Frequently asked questions

What is the route, and where does the tour end?

It is a one-way crossing: departure from Marrakech, over the High Atlas, a night in the Dades Valley, a night in the Sahara at Merzouga, then drop-off in Fes. The tour does not return to Marrakech: plan the rest of your trip from Fes.

How is the journey to Fes made?

The tour vehicle takes you to Rissani, where a road transfer takes over to Fes, with drop-off at your accommodation on the private option. This transfer is included in the price, but it is a seven- to eight-hour journey with no guided stops: the road runs along the Ziz valley and passes through Midelt and Ifrane, with no organised visit.

How many hours of driving per day?

About six to seven hours on the first day, from Marrakech to the Dades Valley; four to five hours on the second, to Merzouga; seven to eight hours on the third, to Fes. Regular breaks are planned for photos and comfort.

Where do we sleep, and which meals are included?

Two nights: the first in a hotel or riad in the Dades Valley, the second in a standard camp in the Merzouga dunes. Dinners and breakfasts are included for both nights. A luxury category camp is possible on request, for a supplement. Lunches and drinks remain at your own cost.

Is the camel ride included?

Yes, twice: on the way out at sunset to reach the camp, and on the way back the next morning to Merzouga. Your luggage is also carried by camel to the camp.

Is the tour suitable for families?

Yes, for couples, families and small groups. Bear in mind that the driving days are long, especially the third. The driver plans extra breaks if you give us the children's ages before departure.
