Tangier
The fortified upper town rewards slow wandering: Bab Haha's sea gate, the Sultan's former palace, and terraces where the Strait glitters below. Come after 5pm when tour buses leave and the light turns the walls honey-gold.
Africa's north-western tip, where the Atlantic officially meets the Mediterranean. The 1864 lighthouse marks the spot; on clear days Spain feels close enough to touch.
The sea-facing opening is famously shaped like the African continent in reverse. Myth says Hercules rested here between labours — geology says the Phoenicians cut stone here millennia ago. Both stories are told better inside.

Tangier is a rare Moroccan city that peaks in summer. June to September brings 25-28°C days softened by Atlantic breeze — while Marrakech bakes at 40°C, the north stays effortless. Spring and autumn are quieter and equally pleasant; winters are mild (15-18°C) with occasional rain. If you're combining Spain and Morocco, summer is exactly when this corridor shines.
