Frequently asked questions

Where does the tour end?

In Marrakech, not Fes. After three days heading south and then west, you arrive in Marrakech, with drop-off at your accommodation on the private option: a handy link between a stay in Fes and one in Marrakech.

Why is the desert on the first night?

Because the road from Fes reaches Merzouga in a single long day. Leaving around 07:00 brings you to the dunes in the late afternoon, in time for the camel ride at sunset; the Todra, the Dades and Ait Ben Haddou follow on the way west.

What is the camp like, and what do I take for the night?

A luxury camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, with dinner, breakfast and an evening of Berber music included. Take a small bag for the night: the rest of your luggage stays in the vehicle.

Who drives, and in what vehicle?

A professional English-speaking driver, in an air-conditioned car or a minibus depending on the size of your group, from Fes to Marrakech; on the private option, vehicle and driver are kept for your group alone.

Are lunches included?

No. Dinner and breakfast are included at the camp and at the hotel; lunches and drinks are paid on the spot, which leaves the choice of stops open.

Where is Merzouga?

In south-eastern Morocco, near the Algerian border. The village sits on the edge of Erg Chebbi, one of the country's two great sand seas, known for its dunes and camps. Travelling with children? Tell us their ages and the driver will plan breaks on the long first day.
