This two-day trip from Marrakech pairs Casablanca, with the Hassan II Mosque and the Ain Diab corniche, and Rabat, the kingdom's capital, the next morning. You leave around 09:00 (hotel pickup if private), drive 240 km north by motorway, sleep in Casablanca and are back in Marrakech on the second evening.
Casablanca fills the first day. The Habous quarter, also called the new medina, with its arcades and artisan workshops; Mohammed V Square and its architectural legacy from the protectorate; then the Hassan II Mosque, standing over the ocean, with its towering minaret. The evening is spent on the Ain Diab corniche, among cafés and restaurants facing the sea.
The second day follows the coast up to Rabat, the kingdom's capital. The Kasbah of the Udayas and its blue-and-white lanes overlook the mouth of the Bouregreg; the Hassan Tower is the unfinished minaret of a twelfth-century mosque, with the Mohammed V mausoleum facing it. After free time for lunch, the road back to Marrakech takes around three and a half hours, arriving in the late afternoon or evening.
