Overview

Forty-five minutes from the medina, Marrakech's red dust gives way to running water. The Ourika river valley climbs into the High Atlas past terraced farms and Berber villages stacked on the slopes — ending at Setti Fatma, where a chain of seven waterfalls hides up a walking trail and cafés set their tables directly in the shallows of the river. The day includes a village visit and a guided walk to the first falls (further for the energetic), then a long riverside lunch with your feet, optionally, in the water. In summer it's 10 degrees cooler than the city; in every season it's the Atlas without the trek.
