Overview

Venture into Morocco’s wild desert, and get a feel for the nomadic, Berber lifestyle, on this 3-day, private tour. 

On the first day, depart from Marrakech and explore the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait-Ben-Haddou before discovering Ouarzazate. After dinner and an overnight stay in a kasbah hotel, venture to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes on the second day. Go for a camel ride, enjoy freshly cooked tagine, and relax around a campfire under the stars. After an overnight camp stay, return to Marrakech on day three via the Low Atlas Mountains.

Itinerary

Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades: Begin your journey by crossing the High Atlas Mountains past one Berber village after another to the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This village is famous for its kasbah and fortified village and has been used as a set for some famous Hollywood epics and magazine photo shoots. After some leisure time, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and continue your drive through Ouarzazate, known as the Gate of the Sahara. Continue to Boumalne Dades, admiring the scenic drive along the Dades Valley, where you can enjoy dinner and rest for the night at Kasbah Amazigh or Hotel Chems.

Dades – Todgha Gorges – Merzouga: Following breakfast, depart your hotel and drive to Tinghir and its dramatic Todgha Gorges, pausing for some free time to explore the canyons. Enjoy lunch at a local cafe and continue to Merzouga to meet your camel caravan. Experience the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and watch the sunset set. Reach your desert camp before nightfall and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars. Local nomads will provide entertainment and show you how to play the traditional Tam Tam drums. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stop.

Merzouga Ouarzazate – Marrakech: Following an early wake-up to watch the sunrise before breakfast (optional), a driver will be waiting to pick you up for the transfer back to Marrakech. Stop halfway for lunch at a local restaurant. Get dropped off at your original departure point or Djemaa El Fna around 8 PM. You can also book upgrades for the night in the Bedouin camp such as the deluxe desert camp with a luxury private tent complete with an ensuite shower, bathroom facilities, and 5-star amenities. These upgrades need to be booked per person.

Explore a 4-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert adventure. Day 1 : Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Valley of Roses - Dades Gorges Departure in the morning from your hotel/Riad in Marrakech towards the High Atlas and the Tichka pass (2260 m). Then, departing towards Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its ancient kasbahs. Explore the maze-like streets of this historic village before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you'll take pictures at the Taourirt Kasbah and Atlas Film Studios. Journey through the stunning Valley of Roses, known for its fragrant rose gardens, before arriving at the majestic Dades Gorges. Marvel at the towering rock formations and spend the night in a traditional hotel, immersing yourself in Berber hospitality. Day 2 : Dades Gorges - Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga Dunes After breakfast, depart from Dades Gorges and head towards Todra Gorges, where you'll witness the sheer cliffs that tower above the Todra River. Explore the dramatic landscape and enjoy a leisurely walk along the riverbank. Continue your journey to Erfoud, known as the "Gateway to the Sahara," before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga. Experience a camel trek into the heart of the desert and watch the sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes. Spend the night in a traditional desert camp, enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. Day 3 : Explore Merzouga Region wake up early in the morning is a must do, in order to contemplate the beautiful sunrise, in the middle of the desert, free time for breakfast, then you return on camels to Merzouga, where the driver awaits, we dedicate the day to explore the region of Merzouga. We continue our journey in khamlia village, where enjoy the Gnaoua music, and dancing performances, its inhabitants are originating from sub-saharan countries like Mali, Sudan and Niger, free time for lunch in a restaurant. After that we take a stroll in palm trees grove, then drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also called flamingos lake, dinner and overnight in hotel. Day 4 : Erg chebbi - Alnif - Draa valley - Marrakech Depart from Merzouga and journey through the picturesque landscapes of Anif, Tazarine, Nkob, and Agdez. Marvel at the changing scenery as you traverse the Atlas Mountains, valleys, and oases on your return journey to Marrakech. Stop along the way to explore traditional Berber villages and enjoy panoramic views of the Moroccan countryside. Arrive back in Marrakech in the evening, where your unforgettable 4-day desert safari concludes.
